Postdoc Fellowship Programme of the Faculty of Medicine Heidelberg
In line with the intramural promotion of research, the Faculty of Medicine Heidelberg set itself a target to support in particular junior scientists who are active in clinical and scientific research. For that purpose it introduced a number of promotional programmes, one of which is the Postdoc Fellowship Programme. The aim of the programme is to give young physicians, dentists, biologists and psychologists the opportunity to develop their skills and work in one of the faculty's teaching and research facilities.
By means of the Postdoc Fellowship Programme, the Medical Faculty of Heidelberg offers yearly up to 11 postdoctoral research positions for the duration of two years.
The programme centers on promising and highly motivated young researchers who achieved in course of their higher education and doctorate, scores high above the average. The doctorate or equivalent degree of the applicant should, however, not date back more than three years.
The main application conditions are:
- outstanding graduation in all examinations relevant to the applicant's subject area
- a doctorate or an equivalent degree evaluated with at least "magna cum laude" or an equivalent mark. If the doctoral thesis or equivalent work has not been evaluated yet, the applicant needs to hand in a "votum informativum"
- a research project approved by the head of the research group in which the project is to be carried out and the funding of which is assured.
For more information on the application procedure see: application guidelines
It is the applicant's responsibility to look for a topic of research group, they would like to join and contact the department of their choice directly. As a rule, there is a contact person on location, who can give more detailed information on the research possibilities at given hospital or institute. Some of the current research groups and contact persons at the university's hospitals and institutes can be found on http://www.medizinische-fakultaet-hd.uni-heidelberg.de/?id=7704
The deadline ended on 28th of February 2014 at 5.00 p.m.
Late applications are, as a rule, taken up in the next selection round. Incomplete applications can not be considered.
