  1. Content
    • Epidemiology: Basics of Epidemiology, epidemiological parameters, descriptive epidemiology, epidemiological study designs; planning, conduct and analysis of epidemiological studies.
    • Medical Biometry: Basic principles of empirical research, evaluation of therapies and diagnostic measures, identification of prognostic factors, evidence based medicine
    • Medical Informatics: Data: capture, types, standardization, coding (ICD, DRGs, etc.), quality, multiple use; knowledge: sources, research, quality; information systems: components, safe operation, scenarios of support of patient care, especially image processing
  2. Aims
    • Epidemiology: Understanding of epidemiological principles; understand epidemiological studies and being able to interpret them. Understand limitations and options to show causal relationships within epidemiological research.
    • Medical Biometry: Understanding of basic principles of empirical research and the contribution of biometrical/statistical methods, application of exemplary statistical methods, interpretation of results of empirical research
    • Medical Informatics: Appreciation of the value of high quality data and up-to-date knowledge for patient care; awareness that good data and good information structures don't emerge unless physicians contribute

    • Attendance and passing of the test of the course "Propaedeutics in Medical Biometry"

    • Lecture with integrated exercises, short presentation by students, practical course
