Introduction phases and transitional provisions

Starting December 1st, 2016, the MEDISS Doctoral Program will be launched in three phases. The date of application as a doctoral candidate at the Office of Doctoral Affairs (“Promotionsbüro”) decides how many qualification units (QE) you will have to complete in the MEDISS Doctoral Program. Doctoral students who applied as doctoral candidates before December 1st , 2016 can participate in the program voluntarily.

Phase 1:

If you apply as a doctoral candidate between December 1st, 2016 and November 30th, 2017 you will have to complete 4QE. There are no mandatory courses and you can choose any course from the scientific program.

Phase 2:

If you apply as a doctoral candidate between December 1st, 2017 and November 30th, 2018 you will have to complete 12QE. A two-day course on good scientific practice (4 QE) will be mandatory  (the MEDISS Doctoral Program provides this course in German; English courses are available at the Graduate Academy). For completing the remaining 8 QE you can choose any courses from the scientific program.
