When do I enter the MEDISS Doctoral Program?

  • After you have been accepted as a doctoral candidate by the Medical Faculty Heidelberg, we will contact you and inform you about your training requirements. We will also provide you with a form which you should fill in and submit to the Office (“Geschäftsstelle”) of the MEDISS Doctoral Program within four weeks.

 

Do I have to sign up for the program?

  • Yes. Together with the notification that you are accepted as a doctoral candidate we will provide you with a form which you should fill in and submit to the Office (“Geschäftsstelle”) of the MEDISS Doctoral Program within four weeks.

 

What happens if I do not sign up for the doctoral program?

  • To submit your doctoral thesis at the Office of Doctoral Affairs, you will need to prove that you successfully completed the MEDISS Doctoral Program. Without this certificate you will not be able to complete your doctoral studies.

 

How do I know how many QE I will have to complete during my doctoral studies?

  • After you have been accepted as a doctoral candidate, we will contact you and inform you about your training requirements.

 

Will the MEDISS Doctoral Program accept courses that I completed before my doctoral studies?

  • Yes.  A list of courses and events that are immediately or retroactively accepted as QE is available here. Please submit a certificate of attendance at the Office (Geschäftsstelle) of the MEDISS Doctoral Program. Other courses and events can be accredited on request. In order to be accepted for the MEDISS Doctoral Program, a course has to provide scientific content. Please submit a certificate of attendance and this form (Link).

 

Will the MEDISS Doctoral Program accept courses that I completed at institutions other than Heidelberg University?

  • Yes. Basis for accreditation of courses is their scientifically relevant content. Please submit a certificate of attendance and this form.

 

Do I have to complete courses twice if I am already participating in another doctoral program?

  • No. Courses completed for other doctoral programs can also be submitted to the MEDISS Doctoral Program. However, please keep in mind that all requirements of the MEDISS Doctoral Program have to be met before submission of your doctoral thesis. Other doctoral programs do not replace the provisions of the MEDISS Doctoral Program.

 

By when do I have to complete the MEDISS Doctoral Program?

  • To submit your doctoral thesis at the Office of Doctoral Affairs, you will need to prove that you successfully completed the MEDISS Doctoral Program. A transcript of records will be issued by the Office of the MEDISS Doctoral Program on request.
