HeiCheck App

Although dental teaching is a discipline which is particularly reliant on personal interaction, digital forms of teaching, including e-learning, as well as IT-supported organisational and management tasks, play an increasingly important role. As students and lecturers are increasingly using their mobile devices, smartphones and tablets to process teaching content and communicate during their studies, the HeiCheck app is being used in Heidelberg to promote "mobile learning" in dentistry. In terms of content, the app enables students to flexibly coordinate the processes in the integrated clinical treatment courses, including a "digital queue" as well as an independent documentation option and performance recording. The app also offers lecturers and the study secretariat/dean's office documentation options for recording and archiving achievements. With the HeiCheck app, a further building block has been successfully created to further develop the degree programme in organisational and structural terms at a qualitatively high level in the field of digitalisation.
