Stem cell research and regenerative medicine are enormously growing fields of research and clinical applications repairing and replacing cells, tissues and organs in both congenital and acquired diseases. With the revolutions of cellular programming and reprogramming, completely new molecular and cellular medical therapies will get into focus in the nearby future. We envision the development of stem cell-derived therapies, including extracellular vesicles produced by stem cells, in our research programs. In our department, we concentrate on different aspects of stem cell programming, tissue organoids under the molecular control of developmental programs and furthermore on tissue repair during adulthood.
