The Institute of Physiology and Pathophysiology is a scientific institution associated with the Medical Faculty of Heidelberg University. The Institute is dedicated to teaching and research in the subject of physiology.

Around 80 people work in two departments headed by Professors Dr Andreas Draguhn and Dr Markus Hecker with their associated, independent working groups under the direction of Professors Dr Alexander Groh, Dr Oliver Kann and Dr Hugo Marti respectively, as well as in the administrative area.

Staff at the Institute offer teaching and courses in physiology for the approximately 450 students of medicine and dentistry who are admitted to study in Heidelberg each year.
