One of the declared goals of the Heidelberg Medical Faculty is to ensure medical care according to the latest scientific findings. Making this goal possible requires both researching physicians and scientists to develop the results from basic research into innovative treatments and to transfer findings from care back into research.

In order to strengthen clinical and basic research within university medicine, the intramural and third-party funded career development programs, including gender equality measures, will be integrated into the Career Development Programm.
