EU4Health

EU4Health is the EU's 4th health program. The program will provide €5.3 billion in funding from 2021 to 2027 and is intended to support the EU's efforts in the area of health.

EU4Health pursues four overarching objectives with ten specific starting points

Improving and promoting health in the European Union

  • Preventive health care and disease prevention, particularly concerning cancer
  • International health initiatives

Combating international health threats

  • Prevention, preparedness and response to international health threats
  • Supporting national logistics with essential, crisis-relevant products
  • Building up a reserve of medical and support staff

Implementation of the pharmaceutical strategy for Europe

  • Ensuring the accessibility, availability and affordability of medical products and devices as well as crisis-relevant products

Strengthening the resilience of national healthcare systems

  • Strengthening health data, digital tools and services; digitalization in the healthcare sector
  • Improving access to preventive healthcare
  • Development and implementation of EU law in the area of health and evidence-based decision-making
  • Cooperation between national healthcare systems

Numerous calls for applications are published in annual work programs for which project proposals addressing these objectives can be submitted.

Both the application process and project management are closely modelled on Horizon Europe and are therefore carried out exclusively via the Funding and Tenders Opportunities Portal. The calls for proposals and their deadlines are published both on the EU online portal and in our "Current calls for proposals" website.
