Short-term scholarships

As part of its equal opportunities concept, the Heidelberg Medical Faculty supports the scientific activities of women during and after their specialist training.

To this end, funds are made available to finance short-term sabbaticals (3 - 6 months) from clinical or routine duties to support the scientific activities of female doctors in the following situations:

  • in the sense of start-up funding for projects for which further funding from third parties is in prospect;
  • to significantly advance scientific activity, e.g. establishment of methods,
  • to finalise an ongoing project, e.g. preparation of an important publication or habilitation thesis.

If the short-term fellowship is intended to support the re-entry of a female scientist following a familial leave, the host clinic / institute undertakes to continue to employ the scientist for at least one year after the short-term fellowship expires and to guarantee her further scientific training.

The following are eligible to apply:

Female doctors with a doctorate who are currently doing their specialist training or have completed it and on their way to a management position who want to make decisive progress with a specific scientific project may apply.

Applications for short-term scholarships can be submitted three times a year in parallel to the RGS and OMP calls for applications.

Applications must be sent in electronic form only to: Dr. Natalie Schroeter or Dr. Ina Biermayer. Please use the forms below for the CV and the list of publications.

Applications that do not meet the requirements will not be considered. Application documents are available exclusively in German.
There is no entitlement to funding.

Interested women can find out more about the programme at the Heidelberg Medical Faculty or from the Equal Opportunities Officer of the Heidelberg Medical Faculty, Prof. Dr. Konstanze Plaschke.
