Programme

The aim of the Heidelberg Medical Faculty's mentoring programme is to prepare female scientists/doctors from medicine and related life sciences for top management positions in university medicine or in the biomedical-academic field. The programme is characterised by personality and topic-oriented coaching, the development of a personal, success-oriented leadership style and the establishment of career-relevant networks.

The mentorship of the mentoring programme involves a direct and exclusive relationship between the mentee and an experienced mentor for the sustainable, individual support of prospective managers. The mentor accompanies the academic and personal development of the mentee and passes on their own experience.

Format

Professional, modular management training and skills seminars give mentees the opportunity to develop results-oriented leadership and communication behaviour through individual and targeted support, to make the most of opportunities and challenges, to get to know and utilise personal strengths, areas for development and potential, to develop efficient career planning and to grow confidently into a leadership role. At the same time, the programme offers the opportunity to establish a resilient professional network.

Applications are open to post-doctoral students or habilitated scientists and doctors from the Heidelberg Medical Faculty who are seeking a management position in university medicine or in the biomedical-academic field. Up to 10 applicants from the Heidelberg Medical Faculty or cooperating institutions can be accepted per programme cycle.
