Gender Equality Measures
The Faculty of Medicine in Heidelberg considers it an important task to actively support female doctors and scientists on their path from doctorate to habilitation and professorship and thus to support a more predictable career development in university medicine.
As part of the Faculty's equal opportunities concept and the overarching strategy of "Protected Time", a series of measures have been established at all levels of the academic career. The common feature of these measures is that time off from clinical duties is promoted in favour of independent research activities. This helps to overcome structural hurdles and improve the prospects of women in university medicine.
