Programme
At the Faculty of Medicine in Heidelberg, almost as many women as men achieve the qualification level of doctorate. However, women are still significantly underrepresented in the habilitation programme. As part of its equal opportunities concept, the Heidelberg Medical Faculty has therefore set up the Rahel Goitein-Straus programme to support women who are in the qualification stage between doctorate and habilitation.
The "Rahel Goitein-Straus Scholarship Programme" is designed for women who have relatively little research experience and who want to integrate themselves into an existing working group with their own innovative project. The programme aims to motivate women to pursue scientific and clinical training, particularly in subjects in which they are underrepresented.
The programme’s purpose is to promote the transition of women with little research experience into independent scientific work. It is expected that a viable scientific concept will be developed during the funding period with the aim of acquiring third-party funding for further scientific work.
Format
Funding is provided for a half-time position by the Faculty of Medicine in addition to a half-time position provided by the institute/clinic. The funding period is one year.
Candidates are selected on the basis of an evaluation of the applications received by a selection committee of the Faculty of Medicine.
Applications are open to female doctors, scientists and psychologists with a doctorate who wish to work on their own challenging scientific project at an institution of the Heidelberg Medical Faculty. Female doctors and dentists in particular are encouraged to apply.
