The Institute for Anatomy and Cell Biology at Heidelberg University has the task of teaching future doctors about the structure of the human body. This can only be done with the necessary thoroughness on dead human bodies, because the complicated positional relationships of the organs and body parts to one another can only be adequately captured from books and pictures. The institute therefore needs the bodies of the deceased both for the training and further education of doctors and other health professionals and for research.
