The Medical Biophysics Research Group at the Institute of Physiology and Pathophysiology focuses on the fundamentals of brain function and changes in the brain in the context of learning and neurological diseases. To this end, we employ modern electrophysiological techniques in mouse models combined with histological and optogenetic techniques and behavioral paradigms. Your tasks:
- Planning, conducting, and evaluating neurophysiological studies on brain functions
- Research topics: neuronal basis of learning, cortico-subcortical networks, innate and learned behavior, systems neuroscience
- Methods: electrophysiological recordings (chronic and acute multi-channel recordings), behavior, optogenetics, trans-sectional viral gene transfer, analysis of neuronal signals (spikes) and behavior
- Supervision of students (MSc and Ph.D. level)
- Teaching in the practical of physiology for medical students
Your profile:
- Doctorate (Dr. med., Dr. sc. hum., Ph.D., or Dr. rer. nat.)
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Experiences in experimental neurophysiology or related fields
- Programming skills (e.g. Matlab, Python, R)
- Strong interest in and knowledge of neurobiological topics and systemic neuroscience
